Aaliyah Callaway
I’m Aaliyah Callaway, a Houston-based communications professional, multimedia journalist and digital storyteller with experience transforming complex information into clear, engaging content for diverse audiences. My work spans public health reporting, digital communications, multimedia production, community storytelling and audience engagement.
As a Freelance Writer for Public Health Watch, I research and report on healthcare policy, public health and community issues through interviews, data and investigative reporting. My work has been co-published with Houston Public Media, and one of my published investigations ranked among Public Health Watch’s Top 10 most-visited stories during its first month of publication. My reporting also contributed to Public Health Watch’s first television news feature appearance, where I represented the organization during an on-air interview with KXAN.
My experience extends across broadcast, digital and multimedia communications. Through Reporting Texas TV, I produced broadcast newscasts while rotating through roles including Anchor, Multimedia Journalist, Producer, Weather Anchor, Camera Operator and Floor Director. I have written broadcast scripts, produced VOs and VOSOTs, conducted interviews, covered public meetings and live events, and created content for digital and social platforms using Adobe Premiere Pro and other production tools.
Beyond journalism, I served as Communications & Storytelling Lead for Beautifully Loved through Project Advance Austin, where I helped develop donor- and community-facing communications across websites, blogs, social media, photography, short-form video and impact reporting. My work focused on translating measurable community impact into engaging digital content while coordinating interviews, managing multimedia projects and using audience insights to strengthen outreach.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin, where I developed a foundation in investigative reporting, multimedia production, broadcast journalism and digital storytelling. Across each of my experiences, I have developed a particular strength in taking complex subjects, identifying what matters to an audience and communicating that information accurately and accessibly across platforms.
I am pursuing opportunities in communications, digital content, multimedia storytelling, public relations, marketing and journalism where I can combine writing, research, creative production and audience strategy to help organizations tell meaningful stories and communicate effectively with the communities they serve.
